ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) of Pakistan Army Tuesday and paid homage to the martyrs of the country, Geo News reported.

On arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed with a guard of honour. The premier laid a floral wreath at the 'memorial of martyrs', which was built to honour those who laid down their lives for the country.

PM Nawaz Sharif is also due to hold a meeting with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani who received him at the GHQ today.

The Prime Minister is likely to receive a briefing on the national security situation by the army chief.

It may be mentioned that it is Prime Minister’s first visit to the GHQ since he assumed charge of his office.
