KARACHI: Sindh government has ended the ban on pillion riding in Karachi, which was initially imposed on 9th and 10th Muharram was extended twice first until Sunday and then Tuesday, Geo News reported.
The ban ends by midnight (Tuesday 12:00 AM) today, said a Sindh Home Department handout.
On Sunday it was announced that riding pillion would remain banned in Karachi for an additional two days, while it was unbanned in the rest of the province.
The ban was imposed to ensure effective security during Muharram, however it was extended for four days.
According to an official, the government had extended the ban on the recommendation of the law enforcement agencies keeping in view the tension in Rawalpindi and the rest of Punjab.
