TOKYO: Tokyo stocks were down 0.40 percent Wednesday morning despite advances on Wall Street, with investors locking in profits following recent highs and as the dollars rally on the yen eased.

The benchmark Nikkei 225 index, which rose to a six-month high earlier in the week, lost 61.36 points to 15,453.88 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares was down 0.23 percent, or 2.94 points, to 1,250.08.
