Australia 248-7 at lunch on 3rd day of 5th test

SYDNEY: Chris Rogers reached his third test century as Australia moved to 248-7 in its second innings on Sunday, extending its lead over England to 419 runs on the third day of the fifth test at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Rogers was 114 not out at lunch, having put on a 109-run fifth-wicket stand with George Bailey as Australia comfortably accumulated what appears to be an unassailable target for England to avoid a 5-0 series whitewash.

Rogers brought up his second consecutive hundred — after a match winning 116 in Melbourne last week — by cutting part time spinner Kevin Pietersen for four in the 45th over.

Australia lost three wickets — Bailey, Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson — in the morning session. At lunch Ryan Harris was one not out. (AP)
