ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jilani has taken suo moto notice of the gang rape of a widow on the orders of a panchayat in Muzaffargarh district.
Chief Justice Jilani has summoned a report of the incident form Inspector General Police Punjab.
The panchayat had ruled that the widow be punished for the alleged affair of her brother with the daughter of one of the accused. Following the panchayat’s ruling, the widow was raped by the girl’s father and two brothers.
Upon receiving information of this horrific incident, police arrested six individuals including the head of the panchayat. Several other members of the panchayat managed to flee.
