ISLAMABAD: In compliance with the orders of Islamabad High Court, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) on Wednesday demolished 14 illegal bus and wagon stands operating at Faizabad and Mandi Mor.
Officials of the Enforcement Directorate of CDA and Islamabad Police participated in the operation against encroachers while the Senior Superintendent of Islamabad Police and Assistant Commissioner were also present.
President of Islamabad Transporters and Passengers Welfare Association Irfan Khan Niazi alleged that the CDA did not give them any notice prior to launching the operation.
He claimed that following the court’s directives the bus and van owners were shifting their stands elsewhere. He said that transporters were facing the bus stand problem due to the non-implementation of the bus stand project in Sector I-11 by the CDA.
He claimed that 164 kanals of land had been allocated in 2003 for shifting of these bus stands.
