ISLAMABAD: Cold wave has again gripped most parts of the country due to the ongoing winter rain spell as per indications of the weather experts and increased chill in the weather.

Parts of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir received good rain on Monday.

The whole month of February witnessed good rain spells with occasional gaps and now the officials of Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) have predicted more good rains in the upper parts of the country during the month of March.

The rain has increased the sale of snacks including Samosas Pakoras Corn Soup and other stuff and compelled people to visit the popular recreational spots.

The Met Office has indicated chances of more rains in the country during first week of March. A new weather system entered in Balochistan on Sunday reaching upper parts of the country on Monday. Under the influence of this weather system more winter rains with thunderstorm are expected at scattered places of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Islamabad Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir on Tuesday.

Snowfall is also expected in Murree Galiyat Malakand Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir on Tuesday. The rain fed areas of Punjab Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan may receive moderate rainfall during the period.

Hailstorm is also expected at isolated places in the sub mountainous region of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir. The winter rain during last three months (Dec Feb) remained largely below normal in the country. However, some good rains are expected in the month of March. Met office has predicted four spells of winter or spring rains during the month of March.

The lowest minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Astore 04 C Skardu and Kalam 03 C. The minimum temperatures recorded during the last 24 hours were Islamabad 09 C Lahore 09 C Karachi 15 C Peshawar 07 C Quetta 00 C Murree 01 C Muzaffarabad 06 C Gilgit 03 C Faisalabad 10 C Multan 12 C and Hyderabad 15 C.

The rainfall recorded during last 24 hours was Khuzdar 37 mm D.I Khan 26 Joharabad Kalat 19 Parachinar 13 Padidan 12 Bhakkar Karachi 11 Kotli 09 Risalpur 08 Noorpur Thal 07 Sargodha 06 Murree 05 Mianwali Rawalakot Larkana 04 Chitral Rohri Mirkhani 03 Chakwal D.G Khan Dadu Zhob Kohat 02 and Drosh Pattan Abbottabad Barkhan Jhang Panjgur and Sukkur 01 mm. While the snowfall recorded in Murree was 02 inches.
