Nadal, Serena advance in Sony Open

MIAMI: Rafael Nadal advanced into the 4th round of the Sony Open in Miami beating Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin 6-1, 6-0.

It took the world no.1 just 59 minutes to complete the demolition job as he seeks a debut Miami title.

Nadal will now play Italy's Fabio Fognini.

In the women’s event defending champion Serena Williams blasted her way into the quarter finals beating fellow American Coco Vandeweghe 6-3 6-1.

Serena strolled to victory in 79 mins and will face Germany's Angelique Kerber in the quarters.
