ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister’s advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz told reporters on Wednesday that the impression created of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi handing over a charge sheet to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif during their meeting in New Delhi was not correct.
During a news conference at the Foreign Office, Aziz said India and Pakistan had been holding discussions on terrorism and the Mumbai attacks for the last five years. He told reporters that issues pertaining to anti-terrorism were also discussed during the Sharif-Modi meeting.
Aziz clarified that the Kashmir issue had not been sidelined during the prime minister’s visit to India. “Prime Minister Sharif discussed the Kashmir issue during his meeting with Modi.”
Sartaj Aziz added that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would have met Hurriyat leaders if he had gone for talks and not to attend Modi’s oath taking ceremony.
