LAHORE: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) MNA Begum Tahira Asif was shot and injured by unidentified armed men near Gujranwala, Geo News reported.

Sources said Begum Tahira was on her way from Lahore to Islamabad when gunmen attacked her vehicle. She received two bullets and was rushed to Shaikh Zaid hospital Lahore.

According to police Tahira along with her daughter and driver was buying fruit from Allama Iqbal Town when two armed men on motorcycle intercepted them for robbery intention.

On resistance, the robbers opened fire, injuring Tahira Asif. Police said she received two bullets in her abdomen.

Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice of the firing on MNA and sought a report from IG Police.
