Brazil beat Chile 3-2 on penalty kicks to reach quarter-finals

BELO HORIZONTE: Hosts Brazil became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals, defeating Chile 3-2 on penalty kicks in a sensational finish in the first match of the pre-quarter finals round of the twentieth FIFA World Cup here on Saturday.

Earlier, both teams scored one goal each in the entire match after which they failed to score any goal when given an extra time and ultimately it was decided on penalty kicks.

However, Brazil succeeded in converting three penalty kicks into goals whereas Chile could netted two goals.
