GLASGOW: Pakistan’s Shah Hussain has reached the men’s judo finals in the 100kg category in the Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

Shah defeated New Zealand’s Tim Slyfield in today’s semifinal, and will contend for the gold medal against Scotland’s own Euwan Burton.

Previously, Shah won a bronze medal in the Asian Judo Championship and bronze again at Under-20 JIKJI Cup International Judo Championship held in South Korea.

He is the son of former Pakistani boxer Hussain Shah, who also received a bronze medal in the 1988 Seoul Summer Olympics in the middle weight category, and was the first Pakistani to win a boxing Olympic medal.

He has also represented Pakistan at the SAF Games in the past.
