ISLAMABAD: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has accepted an invitation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to come for a meeting in the backdrop of a charged political climate fueled mainly by the PTI’s planned march on Islamabad on August 14.

A delegation of MQM was formally invited to hold a meeting with the Prime Minister which has been accepted by the former.

The meeting is scheduled to be held on Thursday.

Government-led consultations have picked up momentum as the date of Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) ‘Azadi March’ draws near.

Imran Khan in a recent statement warned of shutting down the whole country if government resorted to put him under a house arrest.

Meanwhile, MQM Rabitta Committee has called an emergency meeting of the party’s parliamentarians at its headquarters in Karachi for Wednesday.

MQM Chief Altaf Hussain will also address the party members on the occasion.
