LAHORE: The Punjab government has filed a request to postpone by-election on NA-149 in Multan.
In its request the provincial government has called for a postponement due to the security situation in the city following the Qasim Bagh tragedy.
According to sources the provincial election commission has opposed the Punjab government’s request, stating that all preparations for the by-election have been completed.
The final decision on the postponement of the by-election will be made by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
By-election on NA-149 is scheduled to be held on October 16 after the resignation of Javed Hashmi.
