HYDERABAD: The Qaumi Awami Tehreek (QAT) is observing a strike in Sindh against the MQM’s call for the formation of new provinces. The PPP, PML-N and nationalist parties have supported the strike.

Shops and petrol stations are closed in several areas of Hyderabad including Qasimabad and Gul Centre, while a protest was held by QAT workers near Naseem Nagar Chowk.

The strike is also being observed in Dadu and Jamshoro districts where QAT workers took out a rally. Protests took place in n several areas of Larkana where the strike was observed.

A rally was taken out from Shahi Bazaar till the Press Club in Thatta. Workers of the Sindhi Tehreek forcefully shut shops which had opened in the city.

In Sukkur, QAT workers held a sit-in at City Bypass while in Nawabshah, shops were forcefully shut while traffic was delayed on Hospital Road when protesters burnt tyres.

The strike against the formation of new provinces is also being observed in Mirpurkhas, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Badin and other cities of Sindh.
