TOKYO: Tokyo stocks rose 0.35 percent Thursday morning following another record close on Wall Street while the dollar hit a fresh seven-year high above 115 yen.
The Nikkei 225 index at the Tokyo Stock Exchange added 56.29 points to 16,996.61 by the break, while the Topix index of all first-section shares edged up 0.03 percent, or 0.45 points, to 1,372.21.
