Hong Kong shares climb 2.23 percent at open

HONG KONG: Hong Kong shares rallied 2.23 percent in the first few minutes of trade Monday after officials announced a start date for a trading link with the Shanghai stock exchange.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index jumped 524.61 points to 24,074.85.
