Man arrested in rape case

KARACHI: The police have arrested an accused after a man lodged a complaint with the Baloch Colony police that the son of a cop raped his teenaged daughter.

However, the police lodged the FIR under the charges of maltreatment or assault, saying that rape-relevant section would be inserted in case the medical report confirms so.

Meanwhile, the medical report from Civil Hospital has confirmed that the girl was raped. Minister for Industries Sindh Rauf Siddiqui met with the parents of the girl and assured them of his support.

It was Saturday night when some residents of Joenjo Town situated in Manzoor Colony came at the Baloch Colony police station along with the girl's father Mohammed Aslam, who is an employee of a private company and residing in the said area.

In his complaint, Aslam stated that his teenaged daughter A (18) had left home for some work in the evening when one Noman and his friends Waqas and Naeem abducted her near Al-Jalal Hotel.

Later, the suspects took her to a house in the area where they subjected her to rape, he told the police. The police did lodge the FIR but did not mention the rape offence as they had claimed that the medical report would confirm whether the girl was raped or not.

The family says that Noman is a son of an assistant sub inspector posted at the CID. Police have taken Noman into custody, while his accomplices were still at large.
