ISLAMABAD: Leader of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman on Thursday made telephonic contacts with MQM Chief Altaf Hussain and its parliamentary leader Dr Farooq Sattar and sought their support in tomorrow's election for the prime minister's slot.
During his conversation with Altaf Hussain, the JUI Chief briefed the former about the talks held with Pakistan Muslim League-N and Q-League in connection with the prime minister's election for which the latter is a candidate.
Maualan Fazl said the political rivalry was now heading towards out and out confrontation and feared that the democracy would be dealt a serious blow if once again the nation had to face a general's rule.
Earlier, he called Dr Farooq Sattar up and sought MQM's support for him when the Lower House meets Friday to elect Pakistan's next prime minister.
The JUI-F chief also contacted Aftab Sherpao, leader of Pakistan People's Party (Sherpao).
