LAHORE: The pre-partition built historical cinema house ‘Tarranum’ has been demolished on Sunday here, Geo News reported.

The demolition was carried out for making space for the construction of a market there, said the owners.

This cinema house located at Teksali was built before Pakistan came into being, which was first named as Novelty cinema and thereafter Tarranum. No new movies were screened for a long time in this seventy year old cinema house.

Cinema owners said that neither the movies were available nor the cine-goers, the expenses were unbearable, the building had also worn out, therefore, it was decided to demolish it for more profitable construction of a shopping plaza.
