ISLAMABAD: The nominated Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and senior jurist Justice (retd.) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim Tuesday said that his first priority would be to hold transparent elections, while the media and civil society would have to play their full role for this purpose.

Talking to Geo News in the Supreme Court here, Fakhruddin G Ebrahim said that he was willing to become CEC. However, he has not yet been informed about it officially, he added.

He has been repeatedly telling that the people were suffering; the tenure of the assemblies should be four years. He reiterated that the media and civil society would have to play its full role in the holding of transparent elections.
