LAHORE: Several trains including the Karachi bound Shalimar Express are running late by 5-15 hours that has irked passengers traveling from Lahore to Karachi, Geo News reported Saturday.

According to sources, the passengers who were waiting for Shalimar Express also had a scuffle with the administration over the delay.

Pakistan Railways blamed the shortage of engines and technical faults for the delay. It has also permanently stopped 45 trains that were earlier suspended on temporary basis. The Railways is now mulling over suspending more trains due to lack of engines and other technical problems.

The Railways sources told that a letter has been written to the ministry, apprising them about the current situation while it has been told that the condition cannot be improved without the provision of more locomotives.
