BANNU: Unknown armed men have attacked the old city police station in Bannu Monday morning while curfew has been imposed in the city, Geo News reported.

According to police, some militants attacked the old city police station at 9:30 am with hand grenades and firing while five gunmen also entered the police station building and took several people including three policemen hostage.

Due to cross fire, there are reports of one casualty.

DPO Waqar Ahmed told that additional contingents of security forces have reached the site and sealed all entry and exit points. Curfew has also been imposed in the city.

The area is of high importance as the investigating officers and their offices are situated in the same area where criminals are kept for investigation.

Firing continued until the last report was filed.
