Tehran hosts first radio controlled car race

TEHRAN: The first radio controlled car race is being hosted here. These little racers are competing to test their speed limits and maneuver capability. The event is held only in off-road buggy category.

In recent years, hobby-grade ready-to-run models have become available, attracting many hobbyists and all they need to do is to boost the engine and make some minor changes in the system of the radio controlled cars if they wish to take part in such events.

The event is aimed at preparing the RC cars and their drivers for the Asian competitions in August. Radio Controlled cars were first introduced to the market in mid-1960s. The first cars were nitro- or gas-powered cars. But today electric cars have also entered the market and of course the race. Playing with RC car used to be a hobby but now it’s gradually being turned into sports with global fans.
