Thar peacocks: 5 more die, toll rise to 167

KARACHI: Five more peacocks from the Tharparkar desert died of the dreadful viral disease called ‘Ranikhet’, taking the death toll Wednesday to 167 in a brief period of 24 days, Geo News reported.

In Tharparkar alone 129 peacocks have died due to this disease.

Locals said that the root cause of this viral disease is the hens, which spread among other avian including the peacocks and it could not be controlled unless it is eradicated from where it originates.
