KARACHI: Police late Tuesday night apprehended a couple of conmen, who were involved in extorting money from their blood relations, Geo News reported.

According to reports, the Citizens-Police Liaison Committee personnel and Shahrah-e-Noor Jehan police station cops collared the extortionists in a raid conducted in North Nazimabad Block-Q area.

The police also recovered weapons, a stolen motorbike, and an identity card of a deceased person form the blackmailers identified as Arsalan and Mussavir.

Reportedly, the conmen’s modus operandi involved making threatening phone calls to their relatives and scaring them into coughing out hefty amounts, which they received through “Easypaisa Money Transfer” using the ID card of a man who had died two years ago.

The accused conmen confessed to their crimes on camera while talking to Geo News from behind the bars in a police station lockup.
