KARACHI: The power supply to the blacked-out parts of metropolis has been restored after several hours, Geo News reported.

Earlier almost half of Karachi plunged into darkness after a major power breakdown.

Red Zone, II Chundrigar Road, West Wharf, Kharadar, Methadar, Lyari, Garden, and parts of Defence, and Clifton were among the areas that had lost power.

According to Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) representative, 18 grid-stations tripped after a main transmission line near KPT Interchange developed a fault.

Being a major fault it took some hours before the field staff could repair it, they added.

“The power supply has been restored completely”, said the representative while talking to Geo News.
