ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), which had cut off electricity connections of the offices of federal government ministries located in Pak Secretariat for non-payments, have after a while now been restored, Geo News reported.
Federal water and power ministry sources said that it is the responsibility of CDA to make regular payments of electricity bills of the offices of different ministries, but the arrears on account of non-payment of bills have by now accumulated up to Rs1.70 billion.
The ministries of petroleum and natural resources, commerce, water and power, planning commission and other offices were affected due to disconnection of electricity by IESCO, as the staff of these offices were seen loitering about outside their offices for want of electricity.
Earlier, Minister for water and power, Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar had said in a statement that electricity defaulters’ connections should be cut off without any discrimination.
Later on the assurance of electricity bills’ payment soon, the connections of Pak secretariat offices were restored and the normal work resumed.
