WASHINGTON: United States is concerned about the Haqqanis safe haven and it continued to raise its concerns with Pakistan for putting more pressure on the Haqqani network, according to the state department.

During a daily press briefing, US State Department’s Acting Deputy spokesman Patrick Ventrell said that US frequently raised its concerns with Pakistan at a high level and it was not surprising for them.

He said that the relationship with Pakistan is very important, adding that Pakistanis have a shared desire and a shared goal of combating terrorism.

Replying to the question regarding designation of Haqqanis as terrorist group, the spokesman said that the designation is little bit different in this case from the conventional method.

“New tools that we have to try to dry up their finances, that’ll involve going to other countries and urging them to take additional actions,” he added.
