LAHORE: Flooding and intense rains have severely affected the Railway sector, where rail tracks have been submerged at various points across the country, Geo News reported Monday.

According to Pakistan Railways, the rainwater has immersed the track due to which the Dera Ghazi Khan railway section has been shut, forcing the trains to take alternate routes to reach their destinations.

In Sukkur division, the railway signals stopped working due to the persistent downpour and now the trains are being operated with the help of mobile phones, the officials said.

Pakistan Railways has announced to stop several trains including its Business train, and the ones running on branch lines for today (Monday) - due to flooding and engine failures.

The trains are delayed by eight to fifteen hours due to which the passengers are facing hardships.
