KARACHI: Severe rains across Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan have caused food shortage while the road link to several areas has also been blocked, Geo News reported Monday.
According to sources, residents of Mubarki, Barthi and Fazla Kach are facing severe shortage of vegetables and other edibles. Clean drinking water was already scarce in the area but the recent rains and flash floods have also created shortage of medicines in the hospitals. The situation is not very different in Tonsa, Rajanpur, Jampur, Rojhan and Fazilpur areas where people are short of food and potable water.
Several districts in Balochistan including Naseerabad, Jafarabad, Jhal Magsi, Sibbi and Bolan are also affected by the relentless rains and flooding due to which the link roads to these districts have been closed, causing food shortage.
The road link to Khairpur district of Sindh is also shut due to flooding in nullas and rivers, submerging the vegetable fields. Many districts in Sindh are also facing difficulties in obtaining food and clean drinking water.
