KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari has summoned a consultative meeting in the provincial capital and also called in Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf, official sources told Geo News Wednesday.
Law Minister Farooq H Naek and Wasim Sajjad will be giving a briefing in connection with the preparation of the letter at the meeting scheduled to be held in Bilawal House tonight.
Today's meeting of the ruling Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) leadership should be seen in the backdrop of the Supreme Court's order in the NRO implementation case under which the government is liable to present the final draft of the Swiss letter before the apex court on October 5.
Following the last hearing of the NRO implementation case a week ago, Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Farooq H Naek, had said the government would abide by the Supreme Court’s observations in letter and spirit while writing the letter to Swiss authorities.
After being called to Karachi, the Prime Minister has departed for the port city to attend the meeting in Bilawal House.
The sources said that the PPP leadership will also take stock of the situation in Sindh arising out of the passage of Sindh People's Local Government Ordinance (SPLGO) by the Sindh Assembly and also devise the party's future strategy in this regard.
