ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court, after Friday's hearing of the Balochistan law and order case here, stayed its October 12 order relating to the provincial government, as it was not explained under which authority the Balochistan government was working.

A three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry was hearing the case here.

The CJ said that the federal government was bound to take measures for stalling the internal disorder. He said the federation extended no cooperation except sending the FC, adding actions should be taken for the recovery of missing persons.

During the hearing, Balochistran Advocate General Amanullah Kanrani said that the turmoil in Balochistan began with the murder of Nawab Akbar Bugti. He said nothing happened in 12 years so what could be done in 2 years.

On this, the CJ said that the court has asked for holding the elections, as there was no solution except this.

Balochistan Advocate General took the stance that elections were going to take place in about two months and added that 59-2(b) was rescinded and now the right to change the government lied only with the people.

Later, the court directed to submit the written reply.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry in his remarks said that Kabuli vehicles were caught in Balochistan, which were used in crimes. Whatever improvement is now seen in Balochistan, it was due to police. The ministers in Balochistan cabinet carry the allegations of being involved in the kidnapping for ransom, which has become a business in Balochistan, he added.

During the hearing, the Blaochistan government sought four weeks time for engaging a lawyer and the court adjourned the hearing till November 20.
