LAHORE: National Judicial (Policy Making) Committee (NJPMC) has deferred decision to hold next general elections under the supervision of judiciary, Geo News reported.

The meeting of the committee held under Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhamamd Chaudhary here at SC Lahore registry on Saturday which deliberated on the request of the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) to hold elections under the supervision of judiciary.

The meeting continued for two-and-a-half-hour and later deferred the decision on the plea of the CEC.

Speaking to media informally, Registrar Supreme Court Dr Faqir Hussain said members of the committee raised some points on which chief election commissioner would be contacted. The committee would again review the CEC plea after clarification of these points, he added.
