KARACHI: A constitutional petition has been filed in Sindh High Court (SHC) against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) referendum on ‘Taliban or Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan’, Geo News reported.

The petitioner Haji Gul Ahmed has pleaded that holding referendum on sensitive issues is the sole prerogative of prime minister with the approval of parliament. Any political party or individual cannot hold such referendum.

The petitioner prayed that MQM’s referendum is treason against country’s law and constitution besides an act against parliament.

It may be mentioned here that MQM had announced to hold referendum asking people if they wanted Quaid-e-Azam’s Pakistan or Taliban’s Pakistan on November 08.
