ISLAMABAD: The Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) has been given Rs7 million to supervise facilities extended to the Kashmiri refugees, Geo News reported on Wednesday.

Officials from Ministry of Kashmir Affairs briefed sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee of the National Assembly, which met MNA Yasmin Rehman in the chair.

The chairperson wondered as to why a spy agency was assigned the task of human rights department.

Secretary Kashmir Afairs Kamran Qureshi told that the agency was given the task so that the refugees didn’t return due to maladministration.

Moreover, audit authorities told that according to Statistic Division facts and figures 8.3 million out of total funds allocated to carry out census and registration of the Afghan refugees had been spent for purchasing vehicles.

They further told that project director Shamsul Islam had been removed from the post and the issue was referred to the National Accountability.
