NJPMC key meeting being held today

ISLAMABAD: National Judicial Policy Making Committee (NJPMC)’s key meeting presided over by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is being held at the Supreme Court here today (Saturday), Geo News reported.

Sources said that the meeting would deliberate on the Election Commission request for deputing of judicial officers to work as returning officers in the upcoming general elections.

Chief Justice, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has said that he had sought some clarifications from the EC before taking a final decision on this issue.

All the provincial High Courts, Islamabad High court’s Chief Justices including Shariat Court Chief Justice, Secretaries of the Election Commission and Law and Justice Commission attending this meeting.

EC Secretary would brief the meeting about the arrangements made for the holding of transparent general elections.
