ISLAMABAD: Advisor to Prime Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain has said that the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is incapable of functioning as a regulator and that CNG stations will be phased out gradually.
A meeting of National Assembly's Standing Committee for Petroleum was held under its chairman Engineer Tariq Khattak here on Wednesday.
During the meeting Dr. Asim said the CNG owners collude with public transporters to carry out their black mailing.
He asked: "If we would continue to provide gas to the CNG stations how then the needs of the industry, fertilizers and power generation houses be met?" Supplying gas to the households is government's foremost priority, he added.
Dr Asim proposed that use of CNG for vehicles should be restricted to the public transport only. "We can't provide CNG to Mrecedez and big cars," he continued, adding CNG stations will be phase out gradually.
