ISLAMABAD: A curfew imposed in Srinagar following clashes in the restive areas of Indian Held Kashmir (IHK) continued to disrupt normal life on the second day as well, Geo News reported.

Earlier, it was announced that curfew was imposed in areas falling under Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Safa Kadal, Khanyar, Rainawari, Nigeen, Lal Bazar, Zadibal and Parimpora police stations, KMS reported.

Reports said two groups clashed in Zadibal and Hawal areas of Srinagar a day earlier after which Srinagr administration imposed the curfew.

Large contingents of police and paramilitary troops were deployed in these areas Wednesday evening.

Residents of Zadibal and several other localities told a Srinagar-based daily over telephone that police were announcing curfew in their respective localities on loudspeakers.

Police have also been deployed in other sensitive areas of the valley.

Meanwhile, people in various localities of Srinagar held strong protests against sacrilegious inscription on a foreign product.


The protests were reported from Habbak Crossing, Saida Kadal, Hassanabad, Alamgari Bazar and Gund Hasi Bhat.
