Malik to give in-camera briefing to Balochistan Assembly

QUETTA: Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik will give in-camera briefing to Balochistan Assembly over law and order situation in the province here today (Monday), Geo News reported.

The assembly session is convened by the Balochistan governor on the requisition of Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani.

Keeping in view the in-camera briefing, all the entry passes except of MPAs have been cancelled.

Aslam Bhootani, speaker of the provincial assembly, has refused to chair the session, saying he would not preside over any meeting of the house until its constitutional position was not cleared, a reference to the Supreme Court ruling which says the Balochistan government has lost its authority to govern the province and has constitutionally failed.

However, a government spokesman says deputy speaker will chair the assembly session.
