Funeral prayer of Maulana Ismail offered

KARACHI: The funeral prayer of seminary administrator, Maulana Muhammad Ismail has been offered at Madarasa Ahsan-Ul-Uloom on Monday afternoon, Geo News reported.

Unknown gunmen on Monday morning gunned down Maulana Ismail at Abul Hassan Isfahani Road. He was the administrator of Madarasa Ahsan-Ul-Uloom.

After the incident, panic gripped the area and angry protesters set many vehicles including an ambulance on fire at Gulshan Chowrangi and pelted stones that disrupted the traffic on the adjoining roads.

Due to the tense situation in the area, shops and businesses were closed after which security forces arrived in the area to control the situation. Police resorted to shelling to disperse the crowd and arrested several persons from the scene.
