ISLAMABAD: The government has planned to gradually do away with the CNG industry and the commodity would be available only for vehicles up to 1000 CC and public transport to use it as fuel, said Advisor to PM on Petroleum Dr Asim Hussain, Geo News reported.

Addressing a press conference here Tuesday, Dr Asim said to strictly implement this plan and the government had held discussions with the provinces.

Dr Asim Hussain said CNG sector is utilizing 425 mcf gas per day which is to be halted.

The advisor said the apex court helped the government in CNG price issue. Those who wanted big margins, have closed their pumps, he added.

Dr Asim further said he would present the policy guideline in the Supreme Court tomorrow (Wednesday).

Domestic consumers are priority besides running fertilizer and other industry, he asserted.
