ISLAMABAD: A petition seeking immediate hearing into a case pertaining to appointment of judges in the Islamabad High Court was moved in the Supreme Court on Thursday, Geo News reported.
Petitioner Nadim Ahmed filed the plea through his counsel Advocate Akram Sheikh stating that delaying tactics were being adopted to create hurdles in the way of justice by not issuing a notification regarding appointment of judges despite the fulfillment of constitutional process.
The Supreme Court had granted government two-week time for filing a reference, challenging decision of the Judicial Commission headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry regarding the appointment of judges in the Islamabad High Court.
The petitioner prayed the court that the hearing be fixed on December 10 as time for filing the president reference had lapsed.
It contended that the litigants had been facing difficulties due to the ‘delaying tactics’.
