ISLANMABAD:MNAs belonging to the Muttahida Qaumi Movement on Wednesday submitted a call attention notice in the National Assembly against foreign TV dramas being telecast on some local private TV channels.

MNAs Abdur Rashid Godial, Asif Hasnain and Wasim Akhtar dubbed the TV dramas against Pakistani culture.

Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira told the house that TV channels could only telecast 10 percent Indian content under PEMRA rules.

He said that the government didn’t want to create impression of curbing media freedom through new legislation but TV channels themselves should show responsibility.

He said that the issue was already in the Supreme Court and the government wanted to assist it.
