KARACHI: Two suspects, who were killed during a police search operation in Sohrab Goth, have been identified, Geo News reported.
According to sources when taken to the dead bodies of the suspects their next of kin recognized them without any difficulty.
One of them is said to be Sattar Afghani, a cloth merchant, while the other was identified as Agha Mohammad, a friend of the former.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sohrab Goth, Afghani was a proclaimed offender –since 2007- in seven cases including attempting on the life on SSP Rao Anwar, however police was checking for Agha Mohammad’s criminal record.
Earlier, Karachi Police launched a targeted search operation in Sohrab Goth and suburban areas after getting a tip-off about presence of accused involved in the polio vaccinators which had claimed the lives of five persons including four women in Karachi.
A large number of police contingent and Rangers personnel jointly took part in door-to-door search operation and arrested two dozen suspect, recovering ammunition from them in Al-Asif Square area.
Police sources said, two armed men attacked the police party during search operation and both were killed after encounter.
They said the slain criminals were aged about 32-45 years and seemed foreigners. Their bodies were moved to Abbssi Shaheed Hospital.
