LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif Thursday termed the day of upcoming elections as the 'day of accountability', adding those who failed to deliver will be wiped out.
"The people will bring back the leaders who intend to do something (for the country)," Nawaz said while addressing a programme held in connection with the Christmas celebration.
The PML-N Chief regretted the shelving of Kalabagh Dam, saying those who tried to show the nation greener pastures on the other side of the fence will also end up empty-handed.
He said if he was afforded a chance to serve to people, he would create communication links on the lines of projects like motorways and metro.
"For the first time the Parliament was on its way to complete its Constitutional term without the umbrella of military," he appreciated.
Looking back into the past, the PML-N President lamented that 'some generals hanged leaders or sent someone into exile' but no leader was ever awarded an imprisonment.
He said the minority and majority communities have equal status in Pakistan, claiming there was no discrimination against minority communities. "Merit does not recognize religion or caste," he added.
Nawaz said no one is above the law and Constitution and 'if anyone thinks of himself as such then he is day dreaming'.
