LAHORE: Makhdoom Ahmed Mahmood Tuesday took oath as Governor Punjab here, Geo News reported.
Chief Justice Lahore High Court Umar Ata Bandial administered the oath to Makhdoom Mahmood at a cerempony held at the Governor House.
Punjab Chief Minister, provincial ministers and Speaker Punjab assembly attended the ceremony. Pakistan People’ Party (PPP) president Mian Manzoor Watto, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira and Raja Riaz were also present on this occasion.
Earlier last week, President Asif Ali Zardari had offered the post of Punjab governor to Mahmood, formerly the provincial president of the Pakistan Muslim League – Functional, and the offer had been accepted.
Mahmood replaced Sardar Latif Khosa who had been appointed Punjab Governor on Jan 13, 2011.
