ISLAMABAD: A cylinder blast in an oxygen factory resulted in the deaths of three workers here on Sunday, Geo News reported.

Reports have it that part of the factory, located in Sangjani area, collapsed after the explosion and the fire that followed it.

The factory was used to fill and store oxygen gas in cylinders.

Islamabad Police and rescue workers had reached the spot after the incident. The injured were shifted to a local hospital.

Rescue sources told Geo News that scorched dead bodies of deceased workers have been dug out of the rubble, however there were at least 500 gas cylinders down there, which they were trying to secure to avert a repeat of a similar mishap.
