ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior, Rehman Malik Friday said that the government had no plans of launching an operation against the Tehrik Minhaj-ul-Quran’s protesting sit-inners, Geo News reported.

“I was grossly misreported in this regard”, said he while addressing a reception he hosted in honour of policemen and rangers here at Pakistan Sports Board (PSB)

He lauded the professionalism and dedication shown Rangers and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) in performing their duties to ensure security during long march.

The minister appreciated Islamabad Administration led by Chief Commissioner, particularly the Deputy Commissioner of ICT, who acted maturely and carried out the instructions in full letter and spirit in coordinating and directing to keep the marchers fully secured.

He spoke high about DG Rangers of Punjab for providing
logistic support in terms of deployment of officers and men of the
force to assist ICT Police in maintaining peace and security to the
life and property of the residents of Islamabad as well as the
participants.

Malik also commended officers and men of Frontier Constabulary and its Commandant and Deputy Commandant for providing assistance to the ICT police and Islamabad Administration.

Inspectors General of Police of Punjab and Azad Jammu & Kashmir also received kudos.

Rehman Malik also thanked the Chairman of CDA for providing all the necessary assistance.

On the occasion, he announced Rs50 million for policemen, Rangers and FC on top of recommending medals for senior most female police personnel of Islamabad police.

He announced Sitara-e-Imtiaz for Inspector General of Police (IGP) and medals for DC Islamabad, Amir Ahmed Ali and Director, Public Relations to the Minister, Nawazish Malik.

Rehman Malik said he would recommend to provincial IGPs for award of medals and certificates to their personnel.

The Minister said he has also asked the Chairman, Capital Development Authority (CDA) to give a month’s additional salary to its
employees who performed duties during the long march.
