ISLAMABAD: The Jamait Ulema-i- Pakistan has announced its support for the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz proposed sit-in.

Earlier, the Jamaat-e-Islamai and the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional also announced support for the PML-N plan to stage a sit outside the parliament.

Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Opposition Leader in the National Assembly, on Saturday announced that his party would stage a long-march to the Election Commission of Pakistan to demand empowerment of the ECP so that it could hold a free and fair election in the country.

The PML-N stalwart had also said that a sit-in would also be staged outside the parliament after consultation with other political parties.

On Sunday, sources in the ruling PPP termed the opposition plan a move to divert the attention from creation of new provinces in Punjab.
